Each day drug discovery researchers seek new treatments for diseases that afflict millions of patients throughout the world. At Covance, we share the same passion and desire to deliver new medicines to these patients.

Drug development can be a lengthy and costly process that results in an unacceptably high attrition rate of promising new medicines. In 2004 the FDA’s Critical Path Initiative highlighted biomarkers as one of seven approaches that can improve drug development and aid in the delivery of safe, efficacious medicines to the market in a more timely and efficient manner. Since this announcement, biomarkers have become indispensable in almost all drug development programs.

With the formation of the Biomarker Center of Excellence, we seek to harness groundbreaking advances in our understanding of disease processes, rapidly evolving technology and, most importantly, outstanding scientific talent that will deliver innovative biomarker approaches to accelerate drug development.
